We are a small, friendly and very welcoming community pre-school. Ancells Farm Community Pre-school has a vacancy for a Part Time Pre-school Practitioner qualified to a Level 3 in Childcare, with experience of working with pre-school children, from September 2018

Position: Preschool Practitioner

Contract: From February 2019 to July 2019 - with possibility of conversion to a permanent position

Days/Hours: A minimum of two mornings a week. Our morning sessions run from 9:15am to 12:15pm or 9:15am to 1:15pm. As an employer we embrace flexible working to enable our staff to have a good work-life balance, and are open to discussing two to five mornings a week with the successful candidate.

Salary: £7.93 per hour, rising to £8.30 from April 2019

Start Date: February 2019

Requirements: Level 3 qualification and excellent references

Ancells Farm Community Pre-school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Reporting relationships: reporting directly to the Pre-school Manager.

Purpose of the job:

  • To assist the supervisor in the day to day running of the pre-school.

  • To provide a stimulating and varied programme of play and learning opportunities.

  • To ensure the safety and well-being of the children.

  • To potentially undertake a key worker role with specific children.


Main duties and tasks:

  • To assist in the setting up and clearing away of all activities and equipment.

  • To ensure high standards of hygiene and safety are maintained at all times.

  • To ensure that any information received concerning the children is kept confidential at all times.

  • To actively encourage children’s progress in all areas of development, types and stages of play, by interaction and extension of play activities.

  • To be responsible for keeping the individual record file for each of the children in the key worker group.

  • To be involved in curriculum planning, policy writing and record keeping as requested and led by the supervisor.

  • To attend staff meetings as requested.

  • To attend training as requested.

  • To support the work and beliefs of the pre-school by helping to create an environment that promotes open and equal opportunities for children and adults.

  • To work as part of a team and support colleagues.

  • To encourage the participation and involvement of all parents of children attending the pre-school.

  • To be flexible with the working practices of the pre-school.

  • To be prepared to help when other areas of the pre-school may be short staffed, or with domestic duties or other duties as specified by the pre-school manager.

  • The position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974

  • There will be enhanced disclosure check with Capita (DBS) before post is confirmed
